Patch Name: Top Ace Pilot
Platform: PC
Format: Floppy Disk
Size: 1 KB
Min. Requirements: N/A
Posted: 5/93
Installation: Copy the TOPACE5.PLT file into the game directory (i.e., C:\XWING or C:\XWINGCD) on the hard drive.
Corrects: This is a pilot file which you can copy into your XWING or XWINGCD directory. If you register as this pilot, you'll have access to any of the missions in the 5 tours of duty as a historical combat mission.
Notes: None
Problems Downloading This File: Try right-clicking on the topace5.plt link and select "Save Link As..." or "Save Target As..." from the pop-up menu. For some reason your browser may try to display the file instead of download it.
You may need to rename the file to topace5.plt after you download it to your desktop. In some cases, browsers will rename the file from topace5.plt to topace5.exe. We suspect that this may be related to some browsers not recognizing the .plt file extension.

Patch Name: 1.02 Update
Platform: MAC
Format: CD-ROM
Size: 1,148 KB
Min. Requirements: N/A
Posted: 5/96
Installation: Double-click on the self-extracting file xwing1.02.sea. This will create a folder called "X-Wing Update 1.02" that contains the new application, updated mission and Read Me files, and a default joystick setting for the Gravis Firebird. Drag the new X-Wing application into the X-Wing folder you created when you did your original X-Wing install. The system will ask you if you would like to replace the old X-Wing that is there, and you should answer "Yes." Drag the two folders named "Classic" and "Mission" into the subfolder "X-Wing Data" in your original X-Wing installation folder. Double-click on the new X-Wing application and you're ready to play!
Corrects: These are the changes that have been made since the original release:
-fixed a Type 1 error in Bonus Mission 2 and Tour 1 Mission 7 that occurred on certain configurations
-added support for the Gravis Firebird (also included a default setting)
-fixed default calibration for mouse control
-fixed using the keyboard with cursor keys and the control key
-now allows user-defined settings for CH Products controllers
-fixed a display problem when using multiple monitors and selecting the preferences menu
-fixed the missing Nav buoy bug in B-Wing Historic Mission 5
Notes: If you are using a CH Products joystick with X-Wing, you now MUST either load the settings included on the X-Wing CD-ROM or create your own settings for the game before playing. Please see the Joystick ReadMe for installation instructions after installing this update.
